Presented The byreason KeithI Doyle,am Webkeen Contentto Architectgive this session is that I work in the field, and realise that the term Information Architecture is not well understood. For example, a recent article in .NET magazine suggested that information archtiecture is synonymous with site structure. While this is one element of IA, there are many other elements, such as the complexities on information seeking behaviour.

Some of the confusion, I think, arises from the fact atthat the discipline has three parents: archtitecture, library science and human-computer interaction. This means that people's understanding of information architecture usually depends on their background.

In this session, I will present amusing and thought provoking ideas about what information archtitecture is, and how it might be considered strategically in your organisation.
